The following is a listing of recent news items relating to the NTCIP.

New NTCIP Signal Priority Working Group Co-chairs Appointed. (April 18, 2008) AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA were pleased to announce that the NTCIP Joint Committee chair, Ed Seymour, had appointed Jim Jarzab and John Thai as new co-chairs of the NTCIP Signal Control and Prioritization Working Group. The SCP WG is responsible for the NTCIP 1211, "Object Definitions for SCP."

Jim Jarzab is the Bus Signal Priority (BSP) Systems Engineering Manager at the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA), in San Jose, California.

John Thai is the Principal Traffic Engineer at the City of Anaheim, California, and also serves in an ITE seat on the NTCIP Joint Committee.

Five Additional PDF No-Cost NTCIP Standards Available. (May 14, 2009 - Rosslyn, Virginia) AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA announced that five additional NTCIP standards publications have been added to www.ntcip.org, and are available for no-cost downloading as Adobe PDF files. The standards are all Jointly Approved, and are now published to PDF.

The five are:

NTCIP 1104 version 01 -- Center-to-Center Naming Convention Specification.

NTCIP 1204 version 02 -- Object Definitions for Environmental Sensor Station v02. (NOTE -- 1204 version 03 is currently a Recommended Standard and out for SDO balloting and approval.)

NTCIP 1211 version 01 -- Object Definitions for Signal Control and Prioritization. (NOTE -- 1211 version 02 is in draft development.)

NTCIP 8004 version 01 -- Structure and Identification of Management Information (SMI). (NOTE -- 8004 version 02 is currently a Recommended Standard.)

NTCIP 8007 version 01 -- Testing and Conformity Assessment Documentation Within NTCIP Standards Publications.

An additional announcement will be made soon when the printed hardcopy editions are available. The Adobe PDF copies are available at no-cost for a limited time through support from the U.S. DOT / Research and Innovative Technology Administration, whose assistance is gratefully acknowledged.

NTCIP Joint Committee Announces 2008 Meeting Schedule. AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA are pleased to announce that during 2008, their Joint Committee on the NTCIP shall continue its scheduled one-hour teleconferences, generally on the third Thursday of each month. The scheduled teleconferences will start at 2:00 PM Eastern Time, and will be announced via the NTCIP listserve reflectors. Some alternate dates have been selected to avoid conflict with known meetings.

Two face-to-face (F2F) meetings have been scheduled for April and August.

Committee participants should calendar these selected dates. All dates are for teleconferences, except for April and August.
