NTCIP 9010 provides an overview of the issues involved in using XML-based technologies for ITS. NTCIP 9010 was written for the technical transportation professional. The report includes an appendix, intended for technical users, with guidance on UML and XML development tools. NTCIP 9010 is not intended to be a tutorial on XML or XML-based standards, but rather to provide sufficient background to support the discussion leading to the development of an XML-based C2C standard, consistent with the NTCIP C2C Working Group’s mission.

NTCIP 9010 includes two C2C WG recommendations - (1) develop a more complete SOAP-based XML standard application protocol; and (2) develop a simple file-based approach called “XML Direct.”

August 2003 -- The Joint Committee on the NTCIP accepted NTCIP 9010 Aug03 "XML in ITS C2C Communications" Information Report as a User Comment Draft. In November, the NTCIP Standards Bulletin B0086 issued the draft for comment.

January 2005 -- 9010 v1.09 was accepted as a Recommended Information Report.
