BACKGROUND -- The NTCIP 8005 defines how to convert Management Information Base definitions into a MIB module, and check the syntax.

APPLICATION -- The NTCIP 8005 procedures apply to all NTCIP Working Groups that draft and revise NTCIP Device Data Dictionary standards. Manufacturers and system integrators can also use NTCIP 8005 when creating their derivative MIBs, and when combining their MIBs with other MIBs in control applications and system deployments.

VERSION v01 HISTORY -- In 2000, the Joint Committee accepted 8005 v01.09 as a User Comment Draft, and in 2001, NTCIP 8005 v01.10 was out for review and comment. In May 2006, the Joint Committee accepted 8005 v01.21 as a Second User Comment Draft. The references to the ITS database structure were revised to use ISO 14817, and previous references to the IEEE ITS Data Registry were deleted. In January 2007, the 8005 v01.21b was issued for a second review and comment, and at the same time as NTCIP 8004 v02.07 "SMI".

In August 2008, the NTCIP Joint Committee accepted 8005 v01.25 as a Recommended Standard Information Management Policy. In October 2009, NTCIP Standards Bulletin B0134 sent 8005 v01.27 to the SDOs for ballot and approval.

Approvals -- NTCIP 8005 v01 was approved by AASHTO in May 2010; approved by ITE in June 2010; and approved by NEMA in December 2009. In June 2010, the NTCIP 8005 v01 was a Jointly Approved Information Management Policy Standard.

In July 2010 -- The published version of the Joint Standards Publication NTCIP 8005 v01.28 (June 2010 edition) was available as either a PDF download, or for order as a printed hardcopy with a softcover. To order the standard, point to the mouse-over menu "Deployment" >> Order Standards.
