This standard defines defines how to use the Trivial File Transfer Protocol within transportation networks.

In July 1999 -- 2302 was accepted as a Recommended Standard by the Joint Committee. 2302 previously had been designated TS_3.TFTP.

In January 2000 -- Standards Bulletin B0045 sent 2302 v01.05 to AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA for balloting and approval.

In May 2001 -- NTCIP 2302 v01.05 was Jointly Approved. 2302 was approved as a Standard by AASHTO in May 2000; it was approved by ITE in May 2001; and it was approved by NEMA in January 2001.

In March 2002 -- the printed version of the Joint Standards Publication NTCIP 2302:2001 was available for order. NTCIP 2302:2001 is version v01.06, December 2001. The printed version included updated introductory information and references.
