NTCIP 2103 defines the rules and procedures for using the Point-to-Point Protocol over RS-232, or dial-up modem communications links. The document includes a Profile Requirements List, which a specifier or implementer can use as a conformance "check list."

VERSION 01 -- In September 2001, the Joint Committee accepted 2103 v01.12 as a Recommended Standard. NTCIP 2103 v01 was approved by AASHTO in October 2003; approved by ITE in December 2002; and approved by NEMA in October 2002. Version v01 was Jointly Approved in October 2003.

In February 2006, the published version of the Joint Standards Publication NTCIP 2103:2003 v01.14 (September 2005 edition) was available as a PDF download. In July 2006, the published version of the Joint Standards Publication NTCIP 2103:2005 v01 was available for order as a printed hardcopy with a softcover. VERSION 02 -- In June 2005, NTCIP Standards Bulletin B0102 sent 2103 v02.04 to AASHTO, ITE, and NEMA for review and comment. In December 2005, 2103 v02.06 was accepted as a Recommended Standard by the NTCIP Joint Committee. Standards Bulletin B0110 sent v02.06b to the SDOs for balloting and approval.

VERSION v02 APPROVED and PUBLISHED -- NTCIP 2103 v02 was approved by AASHTO in May 2006; approved by ITE in August 2006; and approved by NEMA in April 2006. In August 2006, NTCIP 2103 v02 was Jointly Approved. In December 2008, the published version of the Joint Standards Publication NTCIP 2103 version v02 (v02.07, December 2008 edition) was available as a PDF download.
